We’ve been hearing from more and more friends and readers that they’d like to know where we’re going each week so they can join us. We get invited to events, hear about fun exhibits and are interested in lots of different places all the time. Here’s what is on our radar this week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll go to all these places but there’s a good chance we’ll be at some of these. Support local arts or get outside and do something with us.

We’ll have a brief program with JC Mayor Steve Fulop speaking at 6:00 p.m., followed by other elected officials with Resolutions and Sam Pesin of the Friends and Greg Remaud of the NY/NJ Baykeeper. Rockasorri will play family-oriented music including “This Land is Your Land” and “This Park is Your Park”. (Rain date Friday, June 17 same time.)
WHERE: LSP’s southeast corner behind Lady Liberty near the Flag Plaza and park office. We’ll use the LSP’s picnic tables and grills and the entire “Overlook Lawn.”
GPS is 200 Morris Pesin Drive.
Two Shuttle buses will be running from the cul-de-sac south of the Jersey Ave. footbridge to get to our celebration picnic.
BRING: “Bring your own picnic” food, water, coolers, grills (to add to the picnic area’s built in ones), blankets, chairs, frisbees, balls, kites, etc. (Alcohol is prohibited in state parks.)
Feel free to come earlier and stay until LSP closes at 10 p.m.
With the dark cloud of privatization lifted from the park because of our grassroots battle, come enjoy LSP to celebrate our saving LSP from the Governor giving it away to profiteers. We did it! #SavedLSP! #Happy40thLSP
