We’re highlighting all the New Jersey Olympians this summer because there are so many to watch for. Joe Maloy will be representing the United States in the Triathalon in Rio.

Joe earned 12 varsity letters in cross country, swimming, track & field and tennis at Wildwood Catholic High School, and set school records in the 3,200m and 5k. He completed his first triathlon when he was in sixth grade and fell off his bike. His first triathlon as an adult was the 2008 Bellplain (N.J.) Sprint Triathlon. His favorite race is Tri the Wildwoods, because it’s in his hometown and “has an awesome post-race buffet.”

His career highlights have been: 2016 ITU World Triathlon Yokohama, 11th place; 2015 USA Triathlon Elite National, 4th place; 2014 USA Triathlon Elite National champion; 2014 Cozumel ITU World Cup bronze medalist; and 2013 USA Triathlon Elite Nationals runner-up.

You can follow him online on his website, JoeTriathalon.com.

The Triathalon will be held on August 18th and 20th.

We’ll keep you apprised of when each NJ athlete will compete so stay tuned to YDKJ for all the NJ Olympian news you can handle!
