More Than Q, Stockton – Review

We recently held our first Blog-BQ get together with Jim from CoolDadMusic.com and Brian from The Great Albums Podcast to talk music and food.  We did a lot of both.

We met up at More Than Q Barbecue Company which is currently in the Stockton Market but will soon be moving down the road to Lambertville.  Wherever they’re located when you visit, you should definitely check them out.

We couldn’t even get started with the menu until we ordered the special Triple Hog Hot Dog.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a bacon-wrapped dog topped with pulled pork, their special South Carolina mustard bbq sauce, creamy coleslaw and pickled peppers.  Wow, what a dog!  The sauce and pickled peppers added a nice heat to the sweet pulled pork and salty bacon.

The meat fest was just getting started.  We moved on to brisket which was tender and juicy. It had that gorgeous smoke ring that indicates something delicious is about to happen, too.

Next, it was the Corn Encrusted Fried Chicken sandwich. This was topped with sriracha mayo and creamy pickle relish slaw.  The chicken was impossibly crispy and the cool slaw and spicy mayo complemented it perfectly.  I’d come back just for this sandwich.

They made us an off-menu french fry sandwich which looked great, too.

The sides were amazing. Five cheese macaroni and cheese that could have been a meal in itself.

The star of the side-show, cheddar cheese grits with tasso gravy.  Woah. Spicy red gravy and killer-creamy grits with just enough sharp cheddar to cut the fatty mouth feel.  Heaven.

Of course, when we see burnt end baked beans, that’s gotta be in the order.  These were nice and saucy and chock full of meat.

Collard greens, deviled eggs and cornbread rounded off our four-person feast.

We’re planning on going back once they move to Lambertville later this summer so we’ll keep you posted on when that happens.  The whole Stockton Market building is something cool to check out if you go see them before they move, too.  We’ll report back to you on the Market later this month.
