Recently, a Change.org petition was started by Beverly Medenbach to ask Senators Booker and Menendez to make our New Jersey Pine Barrens a National Park. The petition currently has 5,622 supporters so it needs us to get this going. Sign your name today so save this precious resource in New Jersey.
From the Petition:
Due to continuing encroachment by business and individuals our Pine Barrens are shrinking, New Jersey currently houses the largest remaining section of this unique ecosystem.
While the New Jersey Pine Barrens are a State Park and they are protected in a sense due to State Park regulations there is limited finding and protection available. The hope is that this page through signatures you provide us will allow us to develop a petition to send to our senators demanding that the New Jersey Pine Barrens will become part of the United States National Park System. We have the support of our senator we just need to show he has the support of the people so he can create a viable presentation.
This step will create additional protections and funding so everyone will be able to enjoy the pine barrens in ways we previously could not for many years to come.
