When we heard our friends at New Jersey record labels Sniffling Indie Kids and Mint 400 Records were putting together a show highlighting some of the best indie rock in the state, we were excited. When they asked You Don’t Know Jersey to be involved, we were ecstatic. I believe some of the best new music in the United States is coming out of the Garden State and this is going to be a superb chance to check some of these bands out.

The North Jersey Indie Rock Festival will take place on September 10th from noon to 8:00pm at Cathedral Hall in Jersey City. The hall is former church newly renovated as an arts space right in the heart of the city. The event is all ages and will have food and beverages (21+ to drink, with ID), along with arts and craft vendors from all over North Jersey.

The list of people involved is humbling. In addition to the labels the show is presented by the great people at Jersey City’s 4th Street Arts Organization, BGT Enterprises and The Rock-It Docket. In addition the organizers have asked many respected New Jersey music publications and websites to be involved, like Cool Dad Music, The Aquarian Weekly and Jersey Beat.

Oh, and the bands! Some of the brightest indie bands from New Jersey are on these labels and we have been fortunate to cover them in the past. YJY, dollys,  Sink Tapes, The Clydes, LKFFCT and many more. Each band will play a 20 minute sampling of their music.

We here at YDKJ are stoked and cannot think of a better chance to see such a great cross-section of the state’s talent in one place. See you there!
