Happy National Pizza Month! Last Friday night we spent a very enjoyable evening at the Stockton Market. Devon Moore from Fun While You Wait, Renee Maskin from Lowlight and Brian Erickson from Paper Jets all played solo sets while we ate pizza from Market Pizza.
Their pizzas are wood-fired and use local fresh ingredients from vendors right in the market. We tried two pies and both were equally delicious.
The Breakfast Pizza had an egg from Griggstown Farm on top of garlic chive mashed potatoes and bacon from Manny’s. The egg was runny and we used the outside edges like toast points dipping into that gorgeous yolk. Mashed potatoes on pizza was a new thing for me and I was a fan.
The second pizza was the Margherita which had mozzarella, parmesan, tomato sauce and basil. I ate pieces of this one very fast. It was perfect. The crust (like the breakfast pie) was crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle and tasted great. They make the dough on premises and you could tell it was really fresh.
The tunes were flowing all night from our friends, Brian, Renee and Devon. They took turns singing a few songs and each played about four times. The rotation method really worked and made for a very nice show. Even the sheep in the pictures behind the musicians were having a great time. There may have been flasks. The musicians challenged each other to play the first songs they ever wrote and all three nailed it. People were gathered around eating and dancing the whole time they played. It was a great atmosphere.
Check out Stockton Market when you’re in Stockton and try to visit on Friday when they have live music. It’ll be one of the most fun nights of your whole week!
