Today is National Nacho Day so we headed over to Kearny to check out Mi Pueblito and their Nachos Fiesta. Their homemade chips stood up to the heaviest bean, meat, cheese and avocado bites. They also came with jalapenos, tomatoes and lettuce that were all very fresh. The cheese was very lightly applied which we appreciated since we like to taste all the other toppings. The beans and meat tasted like they were made and seasoned from scratch. These were some outstanding nachos.
The nachos were served with tongs so you could grab a bunch of toppings with chips and slide them onto your own plate. We never saw this before and it should definitely be the way giant plates of nachos should be served everywhere.
We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and got entrees, too. Both of our other dishes were also terrific. I got Enchiladas Verdes con Pollo which came with some of the most tender chicken I’ve ever had. The verde sauce was just slightly tangy and spicy and the refried beans that came with the four enchiladas were really great, too.
Ed got Tostadas Carne Enchilada de Puerco which had more of the thick homemade fried tortillas and spicy pork. We thought the pork could have been a little spicier but there were three hot sauces on the table so that was easily fixed.
