We’ve been hearing from more and more friends and readers that they’d like to know where we’re going each week so they can join us. We get invited to events, hear about fun exhibits and are interested in lots of different places all the time. Here’s what is on our radar this week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll go to all these places but there’s a good chance we’ll be at some of them. Support local arts or get outside and do something with us!
Indivisible Underground NJ Benefit Show!
Friday, April 28th at 7pm, Index Art Center, Newark
In 2015 Governor Christie signed a bill stating that federal funds cannot legally go towards refugee and immigrant resettlement programs in New Jersey. In 2017 45 issued a Muslim ban, threats of mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, and constant xenophobia. This is why it’s so important to support nonprofits that are solely responsible for protecting the lives of immigrants and refugees. The International Rescue Committee is a global organization dedicated to providing relocation services, education, ESL, disaster recovery, healthcare, job placement, and safety to communities most in need. There is a donation of $5 at the door which will go directly to the Elizabeth Chapter: https://www.rescue.org/
7:15-7:45 Watch the Screen – https://www.facebook.com/
Who are Indivisible Underground NJ? Anti-fascist. Pro-mobilization. Promoting intersectional kindness, understanding, advocacy, and education. Our goal is to enable critical social and political conversations to join together in solidarity for the causes we all find important. We will have literature to distribute and plan to organize more benefit shows and local events in the future.
