Cheese 101: East Coast Superstars! hosted by Marie Fromage
Thursday, November 9th from 6pm to 8:30pm, Local Coffee, Montclair
Cheese is a many splendored thing – indulge in a gourmet cheese tasting! This class is perfect for the cheese curious as well as the newly obsessed. This class will celebrate great artisanal cheeses from the East Coast of the U.S.A. The quality and diversity of American-made artisanal cheese can now stand with pride alongside its European inspiration. Hooray! I will take you on a cheese-themed culinary tour up and down the East Coast through a sampling of several artisanal cheeses that you should know. You will sample cheese treats sourced from specialty cheese shops in New York City as well as finds from right in your own backyard. By the end of the tasting you will know the difference between a bloomy rind, a natural rind and everything in between. We will discuss how to put together a cheese board for a party, wine and beer pairing ideas, proper cheese storage and how to approach a cheese counter.
THIS EVENT IS BYOB: bring your favorite beverage. Water will be provided, but I also recommend beer, prosecco, dry white wine or a low tannin red, such as pinot noir. *What’s included: – A lively, fun and informative presentation; – Samples of five artisanal cheeses; – Bread, nuts, dried fruit, dark chocolate and other accompaniments; – A cheese reference sheet to help guide you during and after the class. *Class Price: $45 *Class Length: approximately 1 hour
