Today marks the release of “Dance Floor,” the third single and second music video from Dave Mooney’s brand new album It Came from Spotswood. The video follows Mooney’s Muppetted doppelganger as it traipses through Princeton, past a number of familiar landmarks and storefronts, garnering funny looks from passersby all while singing the infectious new track.

“Dance Floor” harkens back to the powerpop renaissance of 25 years ago, recalling bands like The Posies and Nada Surf who made harmony-infused choruses and open major chords on electric guitar their stock-in-trade. Its singalong refrain propels the song along as Mooney – excited that his partner has agreed to hit the dance floor – starts asking how exactly to do it again.

In the end, the “Dance Floor” video proves a fun, refreshing antidote to that late-fall malaise while the song itself is standout on one of the year’s most well-produced albums.
