Where’s YDKJ This Week? – January 20th thru January 26th

by Alice Magdziak • January 19, 2018 • EventsComments (0)1179

Want to know where we’re going each week so you can join us?  We get invited to events, hear about fun exhibits and are interested in lots of different places all the time.  Here’s what is on our radar this week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll go to all these places but there’s a good chance we’ll be at some of them.  Support local arts or get outside and do something with us!

Jim Squirrell Benefit: Des & the Swagmatics/Matt Wade/Pat Roddy Band, plus guests!

Saturday, January 20th at 7:30pm, Wonder Bar, Asbury Park

Our friend Jim needs help bouncing back from an operation to remove a spinal tumor, come out and bring your most generous booty!

Jim Squirrell, a killer trumpet player who’s a staple in the Asbury Park music community, a frequent collaborator/butt-saver of ours, and all-around great guy, is in some trouble and needs our help. Because of a life-threatening spinal tumor he had surgically removed last year, the time he’s had to take off from work to recover, and the ongoing painful complications he’s experiencing that are keeping him from working, Jim needs help catching up with medical bills and living expenses. To make matters more serious, Jim just learned that this last operation wasn’t fully successful, as there is another tumor in his spine that will require more surgery in the next 2-3 weeks. Jim hopes to be at the show, but it’s not a guarantee he’ll be up to it.

If you know Jim, you know why we feel so strongly about helping however we can. NO ONE suffering with a medical situation should have to additionally worry about their financial stability because of it. It’s time to pull together as a community and help one of our own, however we can, even if it’s just a little. Come out and dance, we’ll pass the bucket around and bring Jim some healing vibes!

We’re thrilled to be joined by some fabulous friends of Jim’s, including: Matt Wade, Eddie Testa, Pat Roddy Band, Sharon Lasher, Timmy “Basskid” Douglas, members of Spare Parts & Shady Street Show Band …and more of your Jersey Shore music scene favorites, including some SPECIAL GUESTS!
