Matthews Diner, Waldwick – Review

Matthews Diner is a great classic diner smack in the middle of Bergen County with great food and nice service. We had two great meals with them in Waldwick.

I mean… that burger up top alone is enough to make you go, right? Perfectly grilled with thin onion rings on top, that was a lunch and a half.

There were three in our party for lunch so we got to sample a few other sandwiches. This chicken breast and avocado sandwich was really simple but the chicken was really tender and juicy. The whole thing was delicious.

The BLT was chock full of bacon and still had plenty of lettuce and tomato to go around, too. The toasted wheat bread could have been a little crispier. I’d ask for them to run the toast through the toaster twice next time.

We tried the chicken tenders as an appetizer. They were good but pretty standard tenders.

Breakfast was very very good! This pastrami omelet came with very crispy home fries. The omelet had the perfect amount of filling, too.

The taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich was simply ideal. The eggs and meat were plentiful and I liked that the egg was just fried and not scrambled. This sandwich is worth the trip to Waldwick all by itself!
