Thirty years is a long time to be doing one thing. But journalist Bob Makin – who started his Makin Waves column back in 1988 – loves what he does! In addition to covering New Jersey’s rich local music and arts scene, he has hosted events over the years at some of the state’s best and brightest venues, helping boost the exposure of a number of our finest musicians.

This summer will be no exception as Makin hosts the Makin Waves Summer Concert Series at the Asbury Park Brewery. Each night will be low-cost, family friendly, and will feature “five headliner acts for five bucks.” The details are as follows:

• June 23^rd: The Best of Makin Waves
  • Cook Thugless, The Brixton Riot, Payday, The Successful Failures, and Disposable
• July 14^th: Trenton Makes Takeover
  • Hub City Stompers, The Cryptkeeper Five, Molly Rhythm, Experiment 34, and Chalk & the Beige Americans
• July 28^th: Crazy, Hot, Vicious, and…Brown
  • Crazy & the Brains, Hot Blood, Little Vicious, Doc Rotten, Chris Brown
• August 11^th: Second Annual Makin Waves Roots Fest
  • Cranston Dean Band, Levy & the Oaks, The Burns, Tara Dente, and the one and only Paper Jets
