In Hackensack New Jersey, it’s a tradition for the residents of Clinton Place to put up extreme Halloween displays. Check out this video of decorations from this year :
It started out small but as it grew it gave them a sense of community. It also gave new neighbors a great way to get to know the people that lived on their street.
It has become a family tradition for many houses on the block, with many families building custom homemade decorations.
The street is beginning to fade as new neighbors move in who are not as enthusiastic about halloweeen and aren’t interested in decorating. Some of the hardcore halloween fans have asked them permission to decorate their property and have gotten it.
My solution: When a neighbor sells their house and moves, they should put in a clause in the contract that the new owner must love Halloween as well and decorate accordingly. Stranger things have been written into house contracts!
