Want to know where we’re going each week so you can join us?  We get invited to events, hear about fun exhibits and are interested in lots of different places all the time.  Here’s what is on our radar this week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll go to all these places but there’s a good chance we’ll be at some of them.  Support local arts or get outside and do something with us!

Howell Farm Corn Maze

Friday thru Sunday, October 12-14, Hopewell Township

The Friends’ fall Corn Maze is growing taller each day, and promises to be a challenging course for those willing to step in. The Howell Farm Corn Maze will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 28. There will be special courtyard activities and games, as well as theme-related exhibits and demonstrations featuring farm animals. Last exit for the corn maze is at 9 p.m.

Fall Fine Arts & Craft at Brookdale Park

Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, Bloomfield

Enter the creative world of fine art and fine craft by spending time at the 35th Annual Fine Art and Crafts at Essex County’s Brookdale Park, October 13-14, from 10 am – 5 pm, rain or shine. Ask questions and learn what inspires the creative process of over 150 exhibitors!  Co-sponsored by the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and Rose Squared Productions, Inc., the free-to-the-public show will feature fine artists, photographers and artisans in glass, clay, clothing, leather, wood, jewelry, metal, mixed media and much more. A variety of food and specialty foods will be offered.

The Living Dead Market Returns

The Jersey City Oddities Market Returns to The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery for the return of The Living Dead Market!  Featuring taxidermy, wet specimens, apothecary goods, and handmade macabre delights from vendor favorites like Lonely Bones Jewelry & Taxidermy, Brain Fever: Artwork by Sammi, Down To The Bone Designs, The Pogo Beard Company, The Oil Well Scent Co. & More. Live tarot readings by Antifragile Tarot.  Saturday October 13th 11am-5pm.   $5 Admission supports the efforts of the volunteer board and the maintenance of the historic site.

Mt. Hebron Cemetery Walking Tour

A 30-acre beauty on the eastern slope of First Mountain, Mt. Hebron Cemetery is the final resting spot of notable residents of Speertown (Upper Montclair) and Cranetown (Montclair) — and a celebrity or two, like Hazel (pictured). Also, discover the secret language behind grave imagery and decoration. Please park on Valley Road near the cemetery entrance at 851 Valley Road, Montclair, NJ as parking within the cemetery may be limited, and meet near cemetery office. Tour led by Lisanne Renner/Historian, Friends of Anderson Park and Helen Fallon/Trustee, Montclair History Center.

Keyport Ghost Tour

Walking, lantern-lit ghost tour of Keyport, NJ. Tours meet on West Front Street, Keyport, at the mini-park across from Espresso Joe’s. Ticket sales start at 8, tour leaves at 8:30.
