We are thrilled to premiere the newest video “U Wanna Be” by Boston band This Bliss. Cue sound of needle sliding across record. “Did you say Boston??” Yes I did. Not only are they coming to our area for some shows soon. Not only are they on New Jersey label Mint 400 Records. They happen to produce some amazing electronica crossed with elements of pop with a soulful delivery.

This Bliss is Jess Baggia on vocals and synth, guitarist Tom Maroon and drummer Nick Zampiello who also handles the samples. Self described as true grime, trip-hop, synthpop, electronic awesomeness, their latest EP Dramatization of Real Events is a hybrid of all of those and more. I hear elements of disco, 80s new wave, 90s era hip hop and even a little Kraftwerk thrown in, especially on single “Talk Talk Talk”.
“U Wanna Be” is a slow burner of a song and easily the most soulful tune on the EP. It rides along a slinky, jazz inspired guitar riff and echos Donna Summer and Everything But the Girl that reminds us “one by one we do connect.” The video is a collage of images including painting, pictures and even some stop motion. And if you pay close attention you may catch a message or two.
You can check out their latest EP Dramatization of Real Events over at Spotify and catch the band at the 3 locals upcoming shows below.
