Colton Brown – Meet Your NJ Olympians

Colton Brown competes in the Men’s -90kg weightclass in Judo.

Judo begins July 24th and goes through July 31st. Colton’s first match is July 28th.

He was born in New Brunswick and calls his hometown Piscataway. He graduated from Piscataway High School.

This will be his second Olympics because he competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Colton Brown is one USA Judo’s top ranked hopefuls for the 2020NE Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan…A United States Olympic veteran, Brown represented the United States of America at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil…He is the son of Jeff and Joan Brown…Has one sister, Abrille Brown…His dog’s name is Autumn…Lists his dad, Jeff as his role model and says: “I’ve never met anyone who is willing to sacrifice everything they have in order for someone they love to achieve a goal”…Also credits his dad, Jeff as the most influential person in his judo career stating: “without him I would’ve never started judo and absolutely wouldn’t be where I am today”…Lists ‘respect’ as the aspect of judo’s moral code that is most meaningful to him…Graduated from Piscataway High School in Piscataway, New Jersey in 2009…Also competed in the sport of wrestling while in high school…Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing from San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif. in 2015…His favorite food is mac and cheese, but his go-to meal the night before a competition is salad salmon pasta….Drake is his favorite musical artist and Remember the Titans is his favorite movie…Hiking and yoga are his favorite hobbies…Has travelled and competed all over the world, but says that his favorite country to visit is Japan…Brown’s typical workout schedule is a strength and conditioning session in the morning and judo at night, six days a week….His typical routine before a competition/match is to listen to music and meditate on the training he did to get to that moment…Lists making the 2016 United States Olympic Team, being a two-time International Judo Federation Grand Prix medalist and three-time Pan American Championships medalist as his greatest judo accomplishments…His favorite judo moment was winning the semifinal match at the 2019 Montreal Grand Prix in Canada.
