Sydney McLaughlin runs the 400 meter hurdles and got a World Record when she won the Olympic Trials!
The 400m hurdles qualifying rounds start on Saturday July 31st and conclude with the finals on Wednesday August 4th.
Sydney was born in New Brunswick and calls Dunellen her hometown. She graduated from Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains.One-time Olympian (2016)
She also competed in the Rio Olympics in 2016 where she placed 17th.

When she ran hurdles in Rio, she became the youngest U.S. Olympian to compete in track and field since 1972. Sydney set a junior world record in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, breaking the previous mark set by Leslie Maxie in 1984.
She volunteers for the Central Jersey Chapter of Hope Worldwide, distributing fire safety and disaster relief information to residents on behalf of the American Red Cross and assisting with the Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.
